For the purification of volatile organic substances (VOC) or for the adsorption of odors, IMAS AEROMECCANICA’s range is rich in various models of activated carbon filters, both volumetric and thin-bed, with and without the pre-filtration of any solid particles, that, when present would damage the Activated Carbon. These must be dimensioned, in terms of quantity and characteristics, according to the type of pollutant and its concentration.
The activated carbon filters produced by IMAS AEROMECCANICA are suitable for all those processes in which it is necessary to eliminate the volatile organic substances (VOC) present in the air stream to be treated, such as additives present in the oil used in various mechanical processing or paint.
The range of activated carbon filters is wide and includes absorption filters, in which the only filter media is the activated carbon itself, but also filters that combine activated carbon technology with, for example, filter stages with pockets or sleeves, depending on the use and the chemical-physical composition of the pollutant to be treated.
HT – Liquid scrubber for blast chiller
Scrubber or hydro turbulator with wet abatement for bubbling and cascade system. Suitable for the abatement of flammable dusts by self-combustion or water-soluble in low concentration. It guarantees abatement efficiencies of over 90%. Built within the IMAS AEROMECCANICA factories in 430 stainless steel, it is equipped with manual “overflow” drain, water supply solenoid valve with level sensor, pneumatic safety valve for the water supply circuit and double guillotine drain valve. An automatic sludge evacuation system is often connected to the HT filter with an antistatic discharge system complete with stainless steel belt conveyor and loading hopper.
Carbon filter for Volatile Organic Compounds, solvents and odors mod. CARBOCUBO. It is composed of a series of single or double layer cells, containing activated carbon with high adsorption capacity. The quantity and thickness of the activated carbons guarantee a contact time> 1s, in compliance with the regulations and technical data sheets operational in Italy. It is suitable for the abatement of almost all compounds of organic origin and many of inorganic origin and is most commonly used in the fields of painting, graphics/printing, chemical processes, gluing, recycling/SUW disposal (solid urban waste), cosmetics, fiberglass processing, nautical.

ST
The “ST” series do not include any prefilter at the inlet and must be used only in the absence of solid particles. The activated carbon cells, made of perforated sheet metal for a bed of 80 mm thickness, are arranged vertically and are equipped with an upper coal loading hatch and unloading shutter at a height of about one meter from the ground.
LST
The “LST” purifier is equipped with F9 class (EN779) multiple pocket prefilters and it is indicated in cases where together with the VOCs there is also present a low concentration of solid particles. The prefilters, installed on special rails, have a quick replacemen systemt and are easily accessible thanks to the convenient side doors equipped with a micro position.
Inertial purifiers with a metal structure mainly used for the filtration of nebulized oil with adhesive, waxy or greasy characteristics, derived, for example, from the application of the release agent in die-casting, or for emulsified oil mists in high concentrations with relative sludge or “muddy” residues.
Among the Activated Carbon Purifiers, suitable for the physical and/or chemical/physical adsorption of Volatile Organic Substances (VOCs) or odors, we include the “FOCA” series, equipped with prefilters for any dust and suitable for small flow rates and low concentrations. The activated carbon cells are installed on rails like the pre-filters, which can be extracted frontally for replacement, through the same wide door.
The “CARBOCONT” purifier is equipped with class F9 (EN779) multiple pocket prefilters and is suitable in all those cases where solid particulate are present together with the VOCs. The prefilters, installed on rails, have a quick replacemen systemt and are easily accessible thanks to the convenient side doors equipped with a micro position. Built in sheet metal on a tubular steel reticular structure, it is equipped with a series of activated carbon containment cells, arranged opposite but inclined, to ensure a perfect homogeneity of the air flow over the entire section. For each cell there is an upper hatch for loading and a lower shutter for emptying at one meter from the ground. The structure is characterized by a particular infill of the sides with special panels in Akrabond (a sandwich of aluminum and plastic material), after painting the carpentry with primer and gray enamel. The explosion vent panel certified ATEX EX II D with EC type-examination certificate No. EUM1_10_ATEX_0298 is installed on the roof of the purifier. These models can be optionally equipped with a specific carbon weighing system, realized by inserting under a cell, a double membrane with particular sensors that transmit the load value to the digital instrument with the weight display; the cell in question, used as a sample of the weight increase, is made sliding on special rails with relative rubber seals mounted in favor of the flow and is the only solution to evaluate the saturation degree of the Activated Carbon and therefore to replace/regenerate it.
CARBODUST
Active carbon purifiers produced by IMAS AEROMECCANICA are suitable for all the applications requiring an elimination of volatile organic compounds (V.O.C) sometimes available in the air to be treated.
The active carbon purifiers are endowed with prefilter with automatic winding. Carbons crossing speed at the max delivery m/sec 0,347. Contact time (sec.) 0,29.
FTS
Pocket filtering unit in polyester, mod. FTS, built in press-folded galvanized sheet, easily removable pockets installed on sliding guides. It contains a differential pressure switch for signaling the degree of clogging of the filters. This filtering unit is suitable for the filtration of welding fumes.
FWS
Filtering unit with metal cell, mod. FWS, complete with differential pressure switch with LED indicator for clogged filters alarm, is suitable for capturing and filtering welding fumes, fumes deriving from rubber molding, etc.
FWM
Pre-filters agglomerators, used for application on the machine. They are necessary to retain the atomized oil, when for specific needs, it is forced to maintain excessive suction speeds.
FTP
Pocket Filtering Units with metal prefilter complete with differential pressure switch with LED indicator for clogged filters alarm with autonomous power supply via battery.
The FTP Filtering Unit is an effective solution in the field of medium and high efficiency pre-filtration and filtration. It can be used as a substation or as a final filter for dust removal in medium/low concentrations ventilation systems and industrial processes such as welding, grinding, filtration for paint systems, etc.

The flow of air, sucked in by the suction line, enters through a side of the filter unit, passing through the double section of the filter consisting of cells and high efficiency sleeve filters. The system can be positioned inside or outside the production plant.
Tower scrubbers suitable for the wet abatement of water-soluble or odorous substances in low concentration. They are built within the IMAS factories in 430 stainless steel with a laser cutting, calendering and welding process and are composed of a rectangular base constituting the tank on which a series of circular elements are solidly fixed, divided into sectors by specific networks large mesh. Each sector is equipped with a ramp of nozzles installed in counter-current and a certain amount of hollow polypropylene spheres with a diameter of 25 mm, which are rotated by the air flow, allowing mixing with pollutants. A specific pump provides the water delivery ensuring the right pressure to the nozzles, which work with a full cone, covering the entire section with abundant overlap. The “DA..B” versions are equipped with double ramp and double chamber with filling bodies, all with droplet separator installed on the upper plenum. The “DA” purifiers are designed to work in depression with pressure drops ranging between 1400 and 1600 Pa. For particular needs or specific aggressive pollutants, the scrubbers can be made of PVC or polypropylene, both in tower and horizontal version. In this case, external suppliers of proven reliability and experience in the processing of plastic materials are used, which may also involve the aspirator and other components.
